JDBC AND applets

Hi I was just wondering Does the browser's JVM supprt JDBC or do I need to write a servlet and Let te servlet and applet communicate with each other, please help this is urgent

Thanks to the antics of Netscape and Microsoft, the JVMs in web browsers are too old for JDBC. However, even if they weren't, JDBC is a security issue - the sandbox blocks unsigned applets from using it. it's much easier to do the database work 3-tier style, passing URLRequests to a servlet or JSP and letting the actual database code live on the webserver.
