How do I tell in IE and Netscape which version of Java is running?
I am having a problem with methods introduced in 1.2 throwing Errors and Exceptions in my browsers.
I would upgrade my Java plugins, but I want to accommodate the least common denominator for Netscape 4.6 and IE 5.0.
Thanks for your help.

Check out the java.lang.System class. The system properties (including VM manufacturer and version) can be looked up there.

If you want to go for LSD for both Netscape and IE do not use an 1.2 specific methods. Better to stick with jdk1.1 standards as
this is being used by both IE and Netscape ( by default).
