Hi,
I am trying to make a chat server using servlets. When a person connects, he is provided with links of the online users. Is it possible to open a frame window on the click of that link or from a button on the html page instead? i don't want to use applets in it.
Thanx.

Yes... it's called Java Web Start... provided with the new JDK 1.4, it provides a way to launch Java applications over the Internet... however, if you don't want to use Applets, why are you posting in the Applets forum? And why are you using an obviously fake name? Please read the JavaRanch official policy on user names and re-register with a different name.
