Mhh, I don't think we currently have a forum where I would find such a thread to be reasonably on topic. And I'm not sure that it would work very well.

Have you considered looking at Ebay?

would it be good ? if javaranch come with a forum for all forummer who can sell their owned java book, as for ebay n zshop, i rated them as common auction site which i feel their have less related material(java book) to sell off

Javaranch is the website where consists all java developer or learner ..everyone who love java would be here..i believe if there have a forum for sell/buy java book would definitely benefit to all parties ..even for javaranch .. it might be a side income to gain funds ..example, get some commission from seller and etc

i'm not asking javaranch turn to commercially .. but there is a case for poor java learner, like me , my country, malaysia which selling java book with imported version, which is costly to all student

There's a whole lot of legal issues to resolve when running an auction/marketplace, even if the website itself is not-for-profit. Keeping this in mind, I'm afraid JavaRanch won't become one any time soon.

Alvin,
use the university or college library? and if desired book is not there then make a request for that. i used to do the same.

Javaranch,
its very scary to think, Javaranch as a commercial forum. never-ever talk about this please.

cheers.

Well, that's possibly just because there are not many people trying to get rid of their used java books...

On the other hand, in the last months I have made some very good bargains on Ebay, where in one case I even was the only bidder! Hell, I probably shouldn't tell you that...

Alvin,

If I want a cheap book I usually just find it in a cut-price book store as 'seconds' with slight damage or printing problem. The material in the book will be no more out-of-date than a used book would be, but they are often cheaper and in better condition than a used book. I buy half my books in this way, often getting books for less than 5 pounds in the UK (about 7 or 8 US dollars?). I have books on performance, RMI, EJB, JSP, Servlets...all bought for these prices, published 1 year ago

hope this helps!

yes agreed. i have been there for two years. we have kinokuniya, Times at KLCC and one in Midvalley Mega Mall. I dont think they offer some second hand books.

You know, i liked a book there in KinoKuniya, and it was expensive for me. so i read that book there, in three days . but offcourse one might not do this for a computing books or a reference guides.
