I preparing my self for SCJP 1.5 in September.

Could someone help in finding resources for SCJP 1.5 ( Both Study Notes and Mock Exams). I found one at http://www.java.boot.by.

And what is the recommended book 4 SCJP 1.5

According to Bert, the book is good for beginners to learn Tiger, however, it might not detail enough for preparing SCJP Tiger.

You might have to read other books, or wait for K&B's Tiger edition.

I believe, Kathy's book is coming out next week. I checked with local Barnes and Nobles store and they told me that. Let us hope it is true.

Kathy's book is at least another month away. I think whoever posted in May that it was a week away was way off. I wouldn't trust any release dates until we here from Bert and Kathy in this forum.

Right now they are saying end of sept/early oct.

With the amount of material covered in the exam, its better that they take their time in preparing the book.

Philip Heller and Simon Roberts have released the guide to SCJP 1.5, I saw it in the bookstores here in India, a fortnight ago, anyone who wants to buy it, can go ahead. I'm not sure about how good it is, however, a person well versed in java I know was an admirer or the book for 1.4, he said it was better than khalid mughal's. don't know about this edition.

Roberts and Hellers previous books have been good, but I would not say better than Khalid and Mughal, more like different. You are actually buying more text when you get the K&M book, but it is more dense and "professorly" and detailed than Roberts and Heller. If you are willing to put the work in you can probably learn more via K&M but R&H have always covered the essentials and covered them well.

Note of bias. I am credited in the K&M book as being a "Java Guru". Who am I to argue?

hehe Java Guru (meet you again),
the bias aside along with the fact that you're with the whizlabs, how bout putting up an updated certification guide to Tiger like you did with 1.4 at jchq? I (and we) could use some (a good deal) of your expert knowledge esp. regarding the oop concepts- just what is it that the guys are gonna test when they say "tight encapsulation" "loose coupling" etc. Of course I know what they mean, but can you demonstrate with a few sample question, just so that I(we again) get a decent idea. (I hope they resemble the mock scjp uve put up and not the sample test!)
