I have an applet that needs to read a file off the local machine that the applet is written on, not on the remote browser. I know this can be done as I have done it once already... I can't remember how to set up access permissions. Can anyone help? I seem to remember an AWT/Swing type dialog box - was it security manager or something? Thanks...

I'm having the same problem I think.. I get security exceptions when trying to read a local text file. Have you found any answers?
