In Amazon it says that the book will be released on August 31, 2005. Unfortunately many book releases get delayed, I remember specifically the case of Head First Servlets and JSP, which was supposed to be released in Java One (late June) last year but was available until September.

The previous version of this book was released in 2002 in English, but was available in Portuguese until 2004. So my guess would be that the K&B for Java 5 will be available in that language sometime in 2007.

I Love Kathy Sierra,

Even though we certainly understand your feelings, we still would like you to change your display name to comply with our naming policy.

Thanks

I guess this will be very difficult to happen, if it is not impossible.

So, better to use English book.

By the way, your name violates the Naming Policy, please change it at Your Profile.

I guess you need to wait for 3-6 more months.

Of course, only the authors, Kathy and Bert, know the exact date.

You were asked to change your display name to meet a specific naming policy. You have not done that.

I not a cop, just a regular citizen offering advice - change your name to meet the naming policy.

"Dionisio", the displayed name should be in the format <first name> <family name>. We recommend and prefer that you use your real names. For example my displayed name: Barry (that's my first name) Gaunt (that's my family name).

Please change your displayed name. Thanks.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your thoughts! I think she's beautiful too

Anyway, we know wwe were really late for the Servlets book (no one EVER forgets that one  ), but since then, Design Patterns was EXACTLY on time, and HFJ - Tiger was 2 weeks early

So our track record is getting better... that said we're hoping to submit the book to the publisher in 6 to 8 weeks, then they need about 5-6 weeks to get it into the stores. Very soon we will be looking for volunteers to review new mock questions.. I promise it will be very soon.

Thanks!

Bert

I too am a fan of Kathy & Bert's books. And I'm also a fan of my own books! The 5.0 version of "Complete Java 2 Certification" is out. Different approach, same goal: to help you pass the exam.

Philip, can you confirm that it is out in the sense of being on some bookshops bookshelves somewhere, or shipping from an online bookseller.

I'm not trying to be a smart alec here, and if the author says so then I assume it really is out, but there has been a great deal of "pre-announcing" in the past.

Also can you tell us a bit more about it.

Marcus asked if the new rev of "Complete Java 2 Certification" is really out. Yes, it's available from Amazon. I received my author's copies about weeks ago, so it's probably on bookstore shelves by now as well.

I've substantially rewritten the entire book. The overall structure is the same, and I kept much of the material on the fundamentals. But I rewrote everything that seemed unclear, and I added substantial new material on all the new 5.0 features that are mentioned in the objectives. Every topic that appears in the objectives is covered in the book. I redid all the practice tests. And every chapter has a programming project where readers can practice what they've learned.

And I completely rewrote the chapters on the SCJD exam. That section was mostly written by a hired contractor, and I was never happy with the clarity. Now I'm extremely happy with te clarity.

Philip,

I saw that you are the co-designer of SCJD exam. Would SCJD Tiger release soon?

Nick, I'm not allowed to say much about this. That's why I don't participate in the SCJD forum. I can tell you that Sun isn't currently revving SCJD. I can't tell you why not, or when they will, or anything like that.
