Good day!

I'm about to take the SCJP 5.0 exam by end of July 2005. I was wondering if you have suggestions how I can prepare for it and if you have materials you can suggest or give me. I have backgroun on programming J2SE but not much specific for 5.0 version.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,
The Syllabus of SCJP 5.0 and 1.4 is different but NOT COMPLETELY. You can check following links
SCJP 5.0:
http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-055.xml

SCJP 1.4:
http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-035.xml

Actually SCJP 5.0 put more stress on Java 5.0 features. I am also preparing for SCJP 5.0 and planning to write it on 25th August.

Regards,

In this case, you might consider to take SCJP 1.4, or replan your schedule to adopt the study time for SCJP Tiger.

I agree with Nicholas. There is heaps of 1.4 related material available and very little 1.5 material and so at the moment it is easier to study for that exam. Either go for the 1.4 or reschedule.
