Hallo Ranchers,
I had been preparing for SCJP 1.4 for the past 1 month. I had been reading prep books by Khalid Mughal and also given few mock exams. The results were good enough that I managed to pass the mocks with a decent score.

Now after all this I had a thinking that Why shouldnt I try for SCJP1.5. My question with that is how long will it take for the one with good exposure to SCJP1.4 objectives to prepare for the extra objectives of SCJP 1.5.

Ranchers who cleared SCJP 1.5, please drop in your suggestions on this.

I have taken the same direction. I was studying the K&B book for 1.4, but decided to go for the v5.0 exam. i am still studying the K&B book, but I am also looking at the "Java 5.0 Tiger: A Developer's Notebook" book. I have a pending order in for the K&B book for v5.0 and will receive it once it is available.

Did you guys try the sample Java 5 mocks we just posted? They might give you a very rough idea of the new stuff you'll have to study. I'd say we dropped only about 5% of the topics from the 1.4 exam, and we added about 30% new topics. So I think if you just use a 1.4 book you're really going to be cutting it close! (BTW the mocks we posted are weighted heavily in favor of the new Java 5 topics, even though the real exam will still have a LOT of questions on the old topics.)

Ok, back to work for me, we've got a book to finish
