Sun ePractice Exam

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
I have made one pass though the K&B book (first 9 chapters) and I intend to go back over and review several more times, but I am also strongly considering the 180-day version of the "ePractice Certification Exam for the Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform 1.4 (WGS-PREX-J035C)." See http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/WGS-PREX-J035C.xml . Can anyone tell me if they think this might be a good idea. It is only $75.

I am also open to all the other mock exams. My weakness is that I have never had a job as a programmer. So I don't care if I only get 53% on the test. As long as I pass, it would be a huge victory for me. Also I am not in a hurry, so I can use the full 180 days if I think it may help.

What do you guys think?
Thanks for any suggestions.

I believe the Sun mocks are quite good, but for the money you can buy several other simulators that will probably do just as well. Don't worry about not having real world Java programming experience, so long as you write lots of small programs of your own and cover the objectives you should be OK. A pass, is a pass is a pass. Take it when you are ready.

HI Bob
How much % did you get in the K&B mock exam.depending on that You can decide.
I got 75 % in K&B mock exam.
In Exam cram test I scored only 63%.
I did DanChisholm comprehensive tests .In that I used to score 17 out of 29 everytime.
even then I got 85 % in real exam today.
I'm also not a programmer in java.Just learnig through Books and writing my own code..

Yes, thanks. Are you talking about the mock exam that comes with the CD? I haven't tried that yet, but I intend to try it soon. I feel like I really need to review alot more first. I need to memorize all the modifiers. I also bought K&B's "Head First Java" and I am looking forward to some of those puzzles, too.

I'd appreciate it if you pronounced my name correctly. Pinhead, with a silent "H". Petite ad:
