I am thinking about taking the 1.4 test cause I was given a book (K&B). However in the book, I was told to have some previous java experience. However I have learned C++ before have about 2 years of programming experience.

Should I learn more java basics before reading K&B or can I jump right in with my past programming experience?

Hi,

It would be good if you try all the examples in the K&B book. And see the outputs of the questions posted in the forum also. Unless you work on it you cannot predict the output of the program. There are lots of questions in SCJP where you need to determine the output. And there are questions to trick C++ programmers.

Swapna.

S yu!
C++ alone will not suffice. I feel some... some.... some prior java programming knowldege would definitely be needed. And even if you directly jump into K&B, you would read thrice... "Java is not C++".
