hai all
iam also planning for jcp.now in the initial stages of preparation,
i have observed most of the replys in this forum, but still a bit of ambuigity in deciding for 1.4 or 5.0.

could anybody clarify solidly because, i feel that as 5.0(scjp 5.0) is already existing then what good it is going to make if i go for 1.4,and
in the future everybody should adopt to 5.0.

is it better for me to go for scjp 5.0 now itself, rather than going for an
upgrade later??

here i need a professional advise, and i want to make it as final and not
to fluctuate .

It all begins with SCJP then follows the rest... check out this link.

Again for SCJP there are two versions currently. You can either opt for SCJP 1.4 or SCJP 1.5. Don't ask me which one you should chose between the two (browse this forum for that! !! )

whic books to follow

I use two books for my SCJP 1.4 preparation and they are...

1. Sun Certified Programmer & Developer for Java 2 Study Guide (Exam 310-035 & 310-027) by Kathy Sierra, Bert Bates
Note: It is known as " All-in-One Java 2 Sun Certified Programmer and Developer for Java 2 Exam Study Guide" in India and is from DreamTech Press.

2. A Programmer's Guide to Java Certification: A Comprehesive Primer, Second Edition by Khalid Mughal, Rolf Rasmussen

and some links. Please suggest.

As a beginner for SCJP 1.4, go round this page thoroughly and come back here.

I am really old timer to Java world, but planning on taking SCJP for the heck of it. Will be interested in sharing knowledge and participate in discussions.

I am planning(need) to take the test by end of this year.
