Opening the applet in a new window

I am new to Applets, thus kindly bear with me if the question is very simple.
I would like to open my applet in a separate window and I dont want the applet "bound" to the html file.
E.g: Suppose I open test.html file, then I want the applet to open up separately in a new window. This would enable the applet to still run while I go to some other web page. (the display of the applet should be the same as when "appletviewer" is run i.e. individual window).<p>
How can I achieve this?
Looking forward to a reply!<p>

Open a web page in a new window by specifying a target, and load the applet from that page instead.
