In the code below it compiles fine but....




But in code2 below it doesnot compile. SO this means cannot use transient inside the main method ???/

In second example, the variable i is local. I can explain you further, but I will defer that for now. Think about local variables and I hope you can come up with answer.

only final can be used for local variables...

The transient keyword indicates that the variable is not part of the serialization of the object. So it cannot be used on local variables but should be used on member variables.

The serialization of an object has nothing to do with local variables.

that's work in main bbecause they become local and you cannot declare static variables as local variables
