i need to acess the files from an applet and the applet has to be incorparated in html file.
we tried this having the files on server side and we are getting a security voilation exception. The applet has to open the file and should read it.

You have to sign your applet.
There is an example here: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=63&thread=156517
In this example the file is written but to load it should be the same.
