hi guys, i am planning to get Sun Certified, and I want to possibly clear it at my first attempt.
I read through this forum and found that most of the people here refer K&B's book.
I will b buyin it tomoro and will start studin monday onwards.

What should be my strategy for the preparation if I want to get certified in a month frm now ?, an hr daily or more ? Since I am already workin I dont think Ill be able to devote more than an hr per day. I have some basic foundation of Core Java.

I hope though that K&B is enuf for me

According to previous posts I've seen in this forum, if you dedicate about 1.5 or 2 hours a day, five days a week, you'll take about one month and a half to finish reading entire K&B's book.

Of course you can increase your daily dedication taking some more hours but I don't recommend because most important than read entire book in a short time is full understand the samples and practice all the questions.

You must focus on quality time and not on quantity time. (This is the point).

Would be a great deal for you if you could take some mock exams. There are a lot of free and commercial ones. My recommendation is Marcus Green's free mock exams and Wizlabs commercial one.

You also can take a look at this forum where many other people have posted free mock exam list.

As long as your results are constant on exams you take, for sure you'll be ready for write the SCJP's exam and get a good grade.

Good Luck and welcome to this forum.

Hi Ubz,

I have not finished reading the book yet.

But when I bought this book I read the reading tips in this forum and after reading 3 chapters I am sure that it works.

The key point is discipline.

I think I may have a good study plan. I usually dedicate 2-3 days on each chapter of the book, reading the material carefully taking down important notes such as the "exam watch" or anytime it says "you must know this" (which in that case i write it on a 3x5 card and plug it into my head), i write down anything with bullets (hey if they use bullets it must be important ) and then just write up some small practice code to I can see everything in action. After all of that I work on the question at the end of the chapter and mark the problems I got wrong so I can study those topics again later.
