iam planning t take scjp 1.5 and i would like to know if the book "Sun Certified Programmer For Java 5 Study guide " by katherine sierra and bert bates is available in india ( ahemdabad ,gujarat), can any one tell me the ISBN number of the book in india and also the cost ?

iam sorry if this question has been asked before but i could not get concerete ans in any of the prev posts

I do not know whether the book is available in Ahmedabad or not...but I sure do know one fact, that it becomes out of stock quickly. I was able to get hold of one copy (for 450 bucks from Parle Book Depot,Vile Parle, Mumbai) and that too after doing the rounds of 10 other book depots. I suggest you ask your local book store owner to order a copy from Mumbai or Delhi, or ask any of your friends living in Mumbai/Delhi to courier the book to you. All the best for your exams.

As suggested by Vinee , I too got the Book by Bert Bates and Kathy Sierra , WHich is considered to be an milestone in Java Certification from Parle Book Depot. It costed me 499 , But i am said that i did not ask for the discount nor that guy told me. Anywayz This book is not worth 499 , Its worth , 4,99,99,99,99,99 uptil infinity Rupees important.

Bert and Kathy has done a very great work.

I too am preparing for the SCJP 1.5 and Hope that i too like other guys and gals around give you the good news very soon of me passing the exam.

Parle book depo in vile parle is good for cheap prices. i had purchased VC++ book couple of years back. i guess they also have 2nd hand books.

i had purchased my K&B from the Book-for-all store in mumbai central. there are few good book shops at charni-road side also.

Frankly getting K & B was a battle for me.
And after more than a month i can get it only by my local book dealer, in Dehradun

My friends in delhi said that its available in South X, some Oom book shop.

And ofcourse book is fabulaous.
Infact its only available good book for scjp1.5.

Hey guys what do u think of this book? I dont mean content wise. I mean the actual physical quality of the book thats published in India. i think shroff publishers did a fine job with head first, the paper was of a superb quality in texture and appearance and didnt have that depressing dark look that characterizes books typically printed here. unfortunately the same publisher wasnt used with this and the book now looks like a typical indian book with cheap paper and some rather pungent ink which makes me dizzy for some reason not to mention it lends it a gloomy and rather un cheerful look. javascript: x()

Im usually not that picky about things but this looks like its been published on some cheap recycled newspaper crapp. I think the K&B publishers shld take note of this and stick to SPD.

I dont think the print quality is bad. I have a head first JSP book too and i dont have anything to complain about.

K&B book is available at books india, ashram road, ahmedabad. The MRP is 499, but you can get discount of 20%/25% from there.

Just now bought the book.. But I'm little confused...

The book has 10 chapters where as the ebook, which came with it, has 18 chapters.. Did I get wrong book?

You have got the right book. First 10 chapters in book and CD are same and it is for SCJP5. I think Chapter 11-18 is for developer.
