Hi Gurus,
well i am new to the world of java and applets so i need the help of gurus. Actually i am developing one applet and i wanna run it on diff browsers and across dif platforms. so can anyone tell me something about Comparison between IE and Netscape from version 4.0 onwards in terms of features, limitations and compatibility issues. any links for this topic will also be of great help.

Hi Harjinder,
The differences are many below IE 5.5 and Netscape 4.7. Before that each browser used whatever SDK they wanted to. I think IE stopped at JDK1.1.4 and Netscape stopped at JDK1.1.8.
After IE 5.5 and Netscape 6.0 the differences are the same as each browser has stopped any JVM support. Therefore, you must use the JDK plug-in from Sun and everything will now work the same regardless of which browser is used!

Thanks for the reply. but i just wanna know about the differences before IE5.5 and NS 6 like in terms of there capabilities and limitations. for e.g like in netscape u cant do appletservlet communication until and unless u change the policy file.. so can u help me in telling me some of the more differences like this or any link on this topic will also be of great help.
