I am preparing for scjp 1.4 and I have mistakenly ordered the book for scjp 5 and would like to know if it is okay to read from this book for scjp1.4 or do u suggest me to go with 1.4 book. Are there any topics deleted for 5.0 that are present in 1.4 ?
If you really want to go for 1.4, I think that you'd better get another book to avoid getting confused with 1.5 stuff. But why don't you go for 1.5 instead ?
Thanks Satou... I saw in this forum people discussing that java 1.5 is not adopted by the industries and still many industries prefer 1.4 to 1.5 . Therefore, I decided to go with 1.5. So, what do u suggest?
I'd go with the 1.5 also - the 1.4 is getting pretty old at this point. But if you DO decide to go for the 1.4, you can still use the book you have (the 1.5 book). You'll have to spend some time comparing the 1.4 objectives to the 1.5 objectives to determine which sections you can skip (there will be a LOT of sections you can skip), and then you'll need to study the Math class, and bit twiddling topics on your own, however there should be good links in this forum for good discussions of Math and bit-twiddling.

Actually I am SCJP 1.4 So it would not be fair to tel about 1.5 exam. But I Do Recommand The Sun Java Certification By Khalid Mughal . That is the best Gook I Ever read. Every Java Programmer Must Have This Book. But it is For 1.4 Exam. So Make Sure That The Latest Version Is Available For The Book. Or Purchase The Same For 1.4
