I am getting ready to do the proof of Java 5. I am studying for the books of Kathy and of Khalid. These books are of the version 1.4.

He/she would like to know through where to study the new resources of the java 5.

Do you recommend me to buy a new one??? Or can I continue studying like this? JAva 1.4 and new features???

Thanks

Some people just use the 1.4 book and learn the new stuff from elsewhere. Some buy the 1.5 book anyway. I suggest that if you are taking SCJP 5, use the java 5 book by kathy and bert. To understand the complexity of the questions that can come under newer topics like generics, its a good book to refer.

If this is not your cup of tea feel free to study from the 1.4 book but make sure you cover enough tutorials about topics like generics. Dont forget to take mock exams that cover these new topics to know where you stand.

This link might help.Generics tutorial

Hi Sergio,

I have purchased the Java 5 book.

SCJP Sun Certified Programmer for Java 5 Study Guide (Exam 310-055) - ISBN: 0072253606

"It's a dramatically different exam from all previous versions in many ways"
See the authors blog.

Hi, Sergio!!

I think you should donwload the exam objectives and search on Ranch, topic by topic, then you'll can see what you must to know.

Sergio,

The first 10 chapters covers everything you need to pass the SCJP exam.

After chapter 10, the following chapters gives you a huge idea about the SCJD exam. No need to worry about these chapters for a while.

Make efforts to eat all the 10 chapters first.

Boa Sorte Man !
