I registered for the SCJP exam on the prometric web site. When I got there to write the exam, their office was closed. I don't know how they could give available time slots on their web site that don't correspond to their actual business hours. I also can't understand why nobody at their testing office bothered to give me a call to inform me of any problems.

A few years ago I also wrote a GRE exam through prometric. When I showed up at the testing centre, they didn't have me listed as a test taker that day. I had to show them my receipt and they booked me an exam two hours later. Needless to say, that really screwed up my rhythm.

I hate prometric.

its gotta stop somewhere. the only way is that you report it to the prometric in usa; as i think its base is usa.

this may not be a prometric problem; this could be a problem with that representative testing center. if it is a prometric branch itself, then still you can report it to usa.

it has never occurred to me. all my tests were done accordingly.

Don't get me started on Prometric.

But as Jesus said above, the appropriate (constructive) thing to do is let Prometric know what's happening so they can fix it.

You might also consider letting Sun know, because if Sun provides feedback to Prometric, it would likely carry more weight than feedback from exam candidates.

Sorry, I have some stories about them that beat it all. Yes, I am doing the one-upper thing.

Although, Yan wasn't called by prometric. In one of my friends cases, he got 4 different calls, and each one he would schedule at a different site, different day or time. Each time they would book him at that time, then like right before he would go to take the exam, they called him up to tell him that they just found out that that site is being remodeled, or closed for that day, etc.

Here is the problem, the sites are not owned by Prometric. So it is like a seperate company decides they want to put a few computers in a room and let people take tests. So they call up Prometric and register with them as a testing site. They site downloads the tests to their computers, they give Prometric their hours and such. But a year later, that company decides for the heck that they are going to close for the day of Tuesday June 22, 2006. But they never call up Prometric to tell them that they will be closed that day. So Prometric, not knowing that signs people up to take tests at that site on that day. So it is and it isn't Prometrics fault. It is their fault, because of their business model and sites. It isn't their fault, because it is the businesses responsibility to notify Prometric on things like this, and on when they remodel, etc.

Have you seen the companies that have sites, I go to a flying school nearby to take my Java tests, they are small mom/pop type stores, that well don't seem too reliable in my mind.

I can see where that might cause issues. But my nightmare was actually at a Thomson Learning site. (Prometric is part of Thomson.)
