in K & B book at page 513 is given that JVM allocates thread's priority range. and also given that the default priority is 5.

My question is , if JVM allocates thread priority range than how the default priority is 5 ? if the JVM having range of 3 priorities than what will be the default priority ?

a thread get the same priority-level has the thread who call it...the default is Thread.NORM_PRIORITY what is usually five...
