Dear friends ,
I have an intresting probelem. There is an Applet developed which when checked using an Appletviewer it works fine. However it just does not start on the browser stating the error as ClassFileName not instantiated.
I have never come across such a probelem. It’s a big big applet which implements runnable and the code does not start in init but later on.
Please help.
Thanks in advance,
Milan Doshi

Hi Doshi,
If your applet uses Swing or any other Java 2 object (i.e., collections) then you will need to use the Sun Java 2 plug-in.
Otherwise, you might make sure that your archive is located on a server and that your HTML code actually points to it.
Regards,
Manfred.

A lot of things will work in AppletViewer that don't work in a browser. The native Java environment in the popular web browsers (netscape, IE) is very archaic. In addition, to prevent people from creating virus programs and security exposures, the Java environment in browsers has a "sandbox" that limits access to critical resources unless the applet has been signed with a security clearance.
