Hi
Is it possible to load swings applet without installing plus-in or setting environment variables in client machine.
I am in a need to do it with minimal or no configuration done in client machines
Thanks
Raji

You could at one time anyway. Problem is, it required downloading a 1.5MB jar with all the Swing classes in it every time the applet was loaded.

Hi Rajeshwari,
Tim is right. Back in Java 1.1 there was a file called swing.jar that was about 1.5M in size and could be included into applet JAR files.
That is no longer the case, the file is not included in newer versions of JDK. Sun now requires you to use the Plug-in. The plug-in is really the only way to go because users don't want to wait very long for applet downloads ...
NOTE: If you manage to get the file, remember it won't support any changes that happened after version 1.1! Since then about 1M of changes have been added.
Regards,
Manfred.
