Does anyone have experience with the free Marcus Green SCJP 5 mock exam? How close is that exam to the real one, in terms of level of difficulty. (I know that it only has 60 questions and presumably is not testing everything that the real exam will test for - I don't remember many questions on some topics such as generics.)

also, how reliable is it as an indicator of one's readiness for the real exam?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Manuel,

Many guys have reported that Marcus Green's exam is really close to real one.

In my case, I got 88% in Marcus Green's mock exam and got 91% in the real one.

So, basically many guys have reported that the score in the real exam is around 10% or 15% more than in mock exams like Marcus Green.

Although my JDK 1.4 exams were very close in difficulty to the real exam (to within about plus or minus 3%, I have a suspicion that my JDK1.5 exams

are probably a bit easier than the real thing. Note that the 60 free questions are drawn at random from a database that covers all of the real exam topics. The 60 questions that are freely available get changed every few weeks.

Hi Edisandro,

Thank you for sharing your experience. I got an 88%, as well, when I took the SCJP 5 mock exam today and became worried that my score is something of an illusion. I have worked hard at preparation, but at the same time, I don't think that I am as good as the score reflects. Of the seven questions that I got wrong, five came from carelessness.

Hi Marcus,

Thank you for making your mock exam available to us. I am impressed by your questions and, if I had arranged my time differently, might be ordering your entire test program based on what I have seen in the freebie. My test is scheduled for tomorrow, so I will have to hope that luck is on my side and I do well.

Hi Marcus,

I passed the exam and I think that your questions are excellent preparation for the single and multiple-choice selections. Without a lot of analysis on my part, I will opt to agree with you in that, on the whole, your question set could be a little easier than the questions on the actual exam. The difficulty level of your questions is also probably more consistent on a question-by-question basis, but this is probably true for all of the mocks that I have experience with.
