Hi,
I'm trying to get my applet to communicate to my server via sockets and serialization. It works beautifully on Netscape and Opera but not on IE. It throws and InvalidClassException because the serialVersionUID's don't match up. The bizarre thing is it tells me that the class "LHands;" is the one not matching. I assume this class in related to the "Hands.class" that I wrote. I tried hardcoding the UID in Hands.class but to no avail. I figure the problem is that the versioning on the Microsoft VM (applet) side is different than the Sun VM side (server). Can anyone shed any light on this.
Thanks in advance
Paul

It could be the version of the JRE in use. Over in the Java in General (beginner) in a conversation, called Exploring Java 2 Browser Support, and trying to figure out the best way to write the APPLET/EMBED/OBJECT tags.
Otherwise, are you using a signed Applet or JAR file?
