Hi,
this must be a silly question, but it drives me crazy
When I'm trying to run an applet, I get a ClassNotFoundException. Even with the most simple applet: HelloWorld I get this message.
(Applet and .html file reside in same dir)
I'm using win2000Pro, IE5.0 and default VM.
When I use 1.4 plugin, it works (applet is loaded) but then I can't view any web-pages containing applet because the proxy I'm behind starts making a scene.
Any help is appreciated.
Regard,
Ruud.

Are you developing these seemingly improperly functioning applets with the Java SDK 1.4?
The default version for which this SDK compiles is 1.2. You probably want to use the target switch when compiling:
javac -target 1.1 Whatever.java
in order for the class files to be in the proper Java 1.1 format.
