I am using appletviewer not surprisingly to view an applet I am
creating but it always appears slightly off the screen in the top left
hand corner. It doesn't seem possible to drag the applet into the
centre of the screen.
Does anyone know a way to make the applet pop in the middle of my
screen?

Are you talking about the applet-viewer window, or the applet that's embedded in it?
If it's the embedded applet, you can just tweak your html to adjust the position of the applet's rectangle on your web page.
If it's your applet-viewer window, I'm not sure why it would be appearing off your screen. If you quit out and then re-launch it, does it pop back in the same place it was before, or does it always appear off-screen?

And then we all jump out and yell "surprise! we got you this tiny ad!"
