Within the K&B book:
Did you complete all of the exercises and quizzes? Are you answering most of them correctly?

I'm a firm believer that if you answer yes to those two questions, then you are ready for the exam.

Hi Davis,

When I read a chapter I attempted the self test that time I am scoring good but does not know how much I know now.

Do u suggest me to go back to all self test question again?

Hi Gaurav
Since u have already completed once this book. Try some mock exams. Then u can figure out ur week areas.
Take a second reading again. This time u will surely complete it in a lesser days.
When u r consistently getting around 90 to 95% in mock exams then go 4 SCJP

regards

Naseem

Do self test and mock test to see where your weak area is.
Good Luck!

Hi All

I have read the K&B 1.5 book once and have attempted all the exercise questions. Since I started gaining confidence, I gave the K&B mock exam and scored 50% in it :-( . The whole confidence level came down to zero.

Any suggestions as how to go ahead, Since I have booked my date for the exam as 1st June 2006.

It would be great if you all could help me gain back my confidence before the exam date.

Hi Dinu and Gaurav ,

I too am learning SCJP 5 from K & B Book and it happens that when we give the self test or the mock exam we get less then what we have thought of. Its not the time to PANIC ! Just hold your hand and tap on your head while no one's seeing:-)

The best solution for this is too keep calm. Read the topic in which got wrong answers again and again and i am sure you would pass. This is the strategy i am applying. May be that can help.

I also have done the mock exam came with the book. I also did quite poorly on that one. I would not take that exam too seriously as I find some of those question not too clearly stated like Coupling etc. And from the format of the exam which doesn't seem to tell you how many choices to pick, just pick all, I think the actual exam will be easier on those pick-all questions. Also I found the exam engine to be faulty as well, I get stuck on the scrolling, and on my 1200x1000 display this thing is like a postage stamp window. I think on the actual exam you can see the questions better too thus less errors.

Hi Yogendra and William

So I am not the only one who is suffering from that mock exam. The Exam has lot many problems as correctly pointed out by William, Even I have a resolution of 1280 X 1024 and the Exam screen is no more than a postage stamp, The scrolling hangs for most of the questions, The questions are very very unclear and also do not give the number of correct choices to pick from the list of 5 to 7 options.

I can understand that the Mock Exam objective is to prepare us for the worst, but that is really demoralizing the aspirants. It would have been great if the exam would emulate the real world prometric exam, so that we could actually test our knowledge rather than the current stress-testing.

Anyways, Do you have any other SCJP 5.0 mock exam links so that we can gain our confidence back and hopefully give the exam by 1st June 2006. I just know of one other link and that is www.examulator.com/phezam/login.php, which is a good one.

Hi Guys,

Donot get dis hearten from the poor scores in mock exams and with annoying GUI features. The quailty of questions is realy good in K&B.

I know choose all apply questions, become bit frustrating , BUT belive me out of experince IT realy help you to know and think about all the options carefuly ,so in the process you develop more understanding and confidence with time.

Remember loosing 1 question in a mock test to gain knowdlege of 4 other concepts of knowing why you did wrong,is worth getting you god marks in real exam.

Also examulator is a good site ,but sample 62 questions papers is realy easy as compared to origional exam
