Hi, I'm hoping someone has seen this problem before...
I am running IE 5.5 on Windows 2000. It is a new machine, so I had to download the Java Plugin to run an applet. I installed version 1.3.1_04 from the first website that prompted me. The install worked successfully with no errors.
However, when I tried to load the applet I got an error window saying the following:
Java Plugin 1.3.0_02 cannot be located because the values in the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JAVASOFT\Java Plug-in\1.3.0_02 is not found or no longer valid.
Ok, I thought, I have a version problem with the install. So then I went to Sun's site and downloaded the 1.4 plugin. Again, the install ran successfully, but when I try to load an applet, I get the same error message.
My HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE has two folders under Java Plug-in: 1.3.1_04 and 1.4.0.
I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the 1.4.0 plugin, but still get the same error.
Has anyone experience something similar to this? If so, I would greatly appreciate your help!
