Hi, Has anyone tried working with Thinlets yet (www.thinlet.com)? I copied, compiled and successfully ran the calculator demo as a standalone, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the applet to work. I'm following the exact example shown: <applet code="thinlet.AppletLauncher" width="320" height="320"> <param name="class" value="Calculator"> </applet>
The error message I get is "Applet AppletLauncher notinited" I'm running Win98, IE6 and using J2SDK1.4.1 If anyone else is working with thinlets, I'd love a few tips about what could be wrong.
I've been curious about using that package for a while and will probably explore it further later this week. When you say that you are using J2SDK1.4.1, do you mean that your browser is using the Java 1.4.1 plug-in by default?
Yes, I'm using the 1.4.1 plug-in as well. When I check the Java Console, I see this error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: AppletLauncher (wrong name: thinlet/AppletLauncher) I'm wondering if I've place code in a wrong directory, but I keep copying to new places and retrying without a lot of success. Let me state the obvious... That looks like you don't have the classes located and/or specified correctly. [ September 26, 2002: Message edited by: Dirk Schreckmann ]
OK, I finally looked at it a bit more. I followed the directions in the docs/overview.html file and was able to successfully create both the application and the Applet. I had to do one thing that isn't terribly obvious in the instructions. I unpacked the lib/thinlet.jar file and added the thinlet directory (with the three class files) to the same directory from which I was creating the JAR file for use with the Applet I was to create. Then I created the JAR file exactly as the overview.html file instructed and created the html file with the Applet tag and viewed the Applet successfully. Are you having any luck yet?
