hey,
i have a simple applet (not japplet!).
it works fine in browsers on machines with
1.4.0 plugin. it is not visible with older versions of plugin or even with the last one.
what's the problem? do i have to put a special code key in html page?

Perhaps you want to compile the class file(s) with the -target switch. Take a look at The javac Documentation.

If you are using jdk1.4 features in your applet, you may need to require that your clients download the 1.4 plug-in.

nope marylin, i don't use anything special.
just an applet with a button and a couple of choice objects...
and getAppletContext().showDocument() is not a jdk1.4.0 feauture, isn't it?

The J2SE Documentation states whether a method or field or class even is "Since 1.4".

Those are not new methods, but I noticed that the documentation for showDocument does mention that "[a]n applet viewer or browser is free to ignore showDocument." Perhaps this is a problem.

hey dirk,
in my applet this method is called by the actionlistener added to a button.
if this would be a problem, the applet wouldn't redirect to another site. but in my case the applet is totally not visible, but only with 1.4 plug-in...
