Hi,
I used the htmlConverter, which did fine work so I can see a SwingApplet in the IE. But I would like to understand it as well.
This is the classid written:
classid="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-805F499D93"

is it always the same for a java plugin of any version for any IE version? How do I know, which classid I need? Is there a list?
Will this download take place when there is a lower version or no plugin or no vm or in any case? From this address:
codebase="http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/autodl/jinstall-1_4_0-win.cab#Version=1,4,0,0">
Do I force the use of the plugin instead of the use of default vm with this?

<PARAM NAME="type" VALUE="application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.4">
What, if there is another Version e.g. 1.3? Will this be taken instead or is there a download or nothing?
Thanks for your help in advance,
liliana

You should take a look at the java plugin documentation. The class ids are of two types:
- Static
- Dynamic
Static id will ensure that client installs a specific version and will force download even if a later version is available. This id is different for different versions.
Dynamic id (the one you are using) will ensure that a download is forced only if a prior version from the one required is available. If a later version is installed, your applet will be loaded using that. This id remains same for all versions.
There is no list as such, but the syntax for static ids pretty much is self explainatory. You can generate one by invoking htmlconverter from the version of JRE you want the client to use.
Hope this information is of help.
Thanks
Y
