hi charu
u can always use showDocument() to open a URL right?
now, as a URL u can say,
mailto:maulin@javaranch.com?subject=Hello etc...
that is-
appletContext.showDocument(new URL("mailto:maulin@javaranch.com?subject=hello"));
you know. that should work.
in applet api i also see showDocument(url, target) which would allow u to open the window in any new target...
regards

hi charu

sorry but i didnt understand this. i said, u had an applet right? so which button r u talking about which user will click? that button is the applet u talk about? please explain me more about ur issue
if u wanted to pass parameter to the applet then u can always use PARAM tag of the APPLET and do things. now, if the servlet renders the applet and the servlet knows the parameter than we can always write like,
out.println("<param name='name' value='"+value+"'>");
u know...

HI MAULIN,
thanx for the reply,
can we use the param tag such that the value is not hard coded in the html document.
there is a list on my applet , when a user clicks on a list item, a new window should open up ,this new window should receive the name of the list item clicked. can this be done using param tag??
( the list actually contains user names who connect to the server , this means that the list keeps changing as the users connect and disconnect).
plz help!!!
regards,
Charu
