public Integer getNumber(String num){
int i=-1;
Integer number=null;

try{ i=Integer.parseInt(num);
}
catch(NumberFormatException ignore){}
number=new Integer(i);
return number; // Line 11
}

After line 11, what objects are eligible for GC? (choose all that apply)

A) The String object num
B) The Exception object ignore
C) The Integer object number
D) Parse Exception object
E) None

Why is is the answer E and not A and B?

String object is not eligible for garbage collection as the calling method may still have reference to the same String object.

But i am not sure why the exception object is not eligible for garbage collection.

Is the exception object created yet? It probably is not.

But what if String num=null, then surely exception is thrown.
