Mac browser can't find applet class

hey,
I have an applet that uses jdbc, and accesses a mysql database. The applet loads fine and works well in browsers running on windows, however Mac browsers can never find the .class file. Though it is there on the web server. Here are the errors:

An exception occurred:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: tiprog

The JVM of the browser is probably the reason ( and maybe
other settings).
My latest applet uses JApplet and many browsers with an
old JVM complain about not finding ...!
What a server knows is not important for the client browser!
There is maybe one ugly solution to put all the files needed
by the applet too into a jar-file (but that makes it big
and long to load for someone with a 56K modem )
