My JApplet is to be used as the front end to a database. They are both on the same server. The server is a Linux box running Tomcat 4. The class files that make up the JApplet are in the same directory as the html file.
The directory is located in Tomcat's webapp directory. The applet tag in the html file includes codebase="." (I've also tried exact path and removing codebase - isn't it supposed to default to the directory containing the html file?)
The applet will run if I double click the html file, but it won't connect to the database. This I understand, but when I type http://localhost:8080/malott_project/main.html into the address bar the applet won't load. The java console says it cannot find the applet class.
What I don't understand is that this works on my Windows platform. It needs to run off the Linux box. Any suggestions as to why it will work on Windows, but not Linux?
