Hi,
I am developing an applet in wich I must load images from the clients pc.
When I test the applet with appletviewer I get the error:
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission)
.......
However I know that the appletviewer ignores the security restrictions that accompany applets.
Does anyone knows a way to overcome this difficulty?
Thanks in advance
Giorgos

Sign the applet. The Sun applet tutorial is pretty good about addressing the subject.

Dear Alex,
thanks for your answer.
I know all about signing the applet. But this part comes when the development has been completed and the applet is ready to be implemented in a Web Browser.
I am interested in testing the applet step by step before it reaches its final form.
Any more suggestions on that?
Thanks in advance
Giorgos

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
