hi guys I have been trying to get a horizontal dropdown menu to be on top of an applet to no avail any ideas on how to do so. My head hurts from banging it against the door jam now for two day's.

Thanks

The JApplet class has a setJMenuBar method. If you are working with java.applet.Applet there is no method to set a menubar; menus are not supported.

I think maybe Bill was talking about an HTML Select Dropdown and it showing up in front and not behind the Applet. I'm not sure how to resolve the issue though. The only thing I can think to try is putting the 2 different elements inside a DIV tag and set the z-order. Don't know if that would work or not though.

Thanks for your reply guy's. What I did is use the netscape.javascript.JSObject class along with the MAYSCRIPT attribute in the HTML and it seemed to work for what I needed to do.

I had it all set with CSS(ul and li's) but wrote it out with javascript but it just showed up under the applet I had. By using the above mentioned class it put the javascript on the same level as the applet since the javascript was called from an applet and written as a JAVA object with a higer z-index than the other applet it showed up on top of the other applet.

Took some time and some research but I learned a good bit from the work I put in to finding the solution.

I hope this makes sence to you guys.
