I have an Applet that lets the user enter some information inside a Webapp.

The problem is that when the Applet creates a URL object to communicate with the Servlet, the paths are different on my local machine and on the server. I've been unable to reconcile the paths manually (that is, via the local file system).

I tried reading the path for each environment from a properties file, but, oops, an Applet can't read from the local file system.

Ditto for using a WebApp config setting to store app variables.

IS there a way, other than to maintain two paths, one for local, one for server, to have an Applet read the correct server path?

I was thinking about the ContextRoot in SERVER.XML, but I'm not sure if this would work.

Greatly appreciate any thoughts or advise.

I'm probably missing something simple.

Thanks.
