Hi folks,

I need a little help with an applet I've written to copy a file off a webserver and save it onto the user's hard disk. My code is as follows:

It works fine under Netscape and Firefox but IE gives the following error:

The applet is signed with a test certificate and is stored as a jar and cab file for the various browsers. Any suggestions as to why IE doesn't like it?

cheers

Matt

Ok, now this is getting weird! If I call this function from public void init() it gives the error stated above. If I call it from public void paint(Graphics g) it works fine!

Does anyone know why? And is this acceptable?

Hi Matt,

I am doing something very similar to what you are trying to do, and getting the same error too.

Here is what I am doing, I call a method copy() on my applet java file from my HTML, passing it the source and target file/path name. The copy() method has all the code to copy the file.

What should I do to make this work? Is the sequence in which I am calling the methods incorrect ?

Thanks in advance,
Nitin.
