On this page :
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/applet/overview/lifeCycle.html

it says :
Leave and then return to this page. You'll see "stopping..." added to the applet output above, as the applet is given the chance to stop itself. You'll also see "starting...", when the applet is told to start itself again. Next, iconify this window, and then open it again. Many window systems provide a button in the title bar that lets you iconify the window. You should see "stopping...." and then "starting...." added to the applet output.

I tried leaving and returning to the page and also minimise the page but nothing works - it just shows "initializing... starting..." always. Why ? Looks like the stop() method was not called.

I tried on these system configs :
Windows XP - IE 6.0 - Java plugin 1.5.0_04
Windows XP - Firefox 1.0.6 - Java plugin 1.5.0_04
Linux(Fedora Core 4) - Firefox - Java plugin 1.5.0_04

Pls help.

Here's what I see in the Java console window. Browser is NS 72 on Win98. I opened the URL to the applet page, then went to another page and then went back to the Applet page.

Yup ... happens only reloading. Does not happen when minimizing. Humm...
Also, we can only see "stopping..." in the console. "stopping..." is not displayed in the applet itself as claimed.

But at least we know that the stop() method is called.
