You can call an applet from java by calling it's init method


But What is the situation where you want to call

We had a similar discussion recently, which you can find here. What the right way would be is hard to say without knowing more about what you intend to do, but just calling the init method definitely will not work.
 
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
