How to maintain state in applets

Hi,

I need to maintain the state of a user in applets,
while working in jsp and servlets based applications we have session which does this could any one help me out how this can be done in applets

The problem i am facing is that i need to store certain ids through out the user login time period how could i achieve this

please help

hi,

In your jsp you are having that value in the session isn't, then no problem, just create one applet param, pass that session value to that param, then call that param in the applet.

Then you can maintain that value in the applet.

but in my application i will not be having any jsp

its a j2ee based application where the front end is pure applets no jsp/servlets and the back end is hibernate

is it possible to do what i have asked before

that is

is it still possible to store the ids..




in the present scene what i am doing is passing an arraylist from the main
class(screen) to the sub screen and then again to the other sub screens here i collect the ids and store into the arraylist which i culd use later,
but the problem i am facing is since the main screen gets recreated every the the user switches the module the values stored into the array list are lost and hence i am unable to maintain the ids in the array list


so is there a way that the object does not get recreated so that i culd maintain the ids into it

Can we use Object Serialization here?
