Hi All,

Good Day!!

I have this requirement where I need to download multiple files from the server into the local terminals file system. I am using struts in doing so but from what I have learned from the moderators of struts (Thanks to them ), only one file can be downloaded directly so they directed me into zipping my file then download as one file. But my requirement stays and user's need the file as is.

I browse some previous javaranch post and found that applet(digitally signed ) could do this. I do not know applet but I am willing to learn it, but I am wondering if applet could satisfy my requirements? Need some advice regarding this one. I will embed those applet into my JSP then access the applet's functionality, if this is so?

Also I did found some post that concerns security when accessing the terminal file system, but my webapps will just run on some local intranet system so security is not a problem at all if that will be the concern Thanks again.

Applets would be capable of downloading multiple files from the server and saving them individually on the client file system. You're right that the applet needs to be signed in order to be allowed to do file I/O on the client, but that's a simple step. You can read more about that at HowCanAnAppletReadFilesOnTheLocalFileSystem

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I'll start browsing on applets from this time on.

Expect me to post a question later though.
