Hi,

Is there no way of doing SCJP without a complete knowledge of java documentation.. I m working under a different platform, so as I dont use java in my day to day life but still want to take up certification.. is there a simpler way to get in touch with all the libraries....
I guess, my ques sounds weird to most of you.. but cant help ...
Please suggest..

Thanks,
Sameera.

Not so weird, no. Lots of people want something for nothing, so this isn't so unusual. Most of the time people aren't so forthcoming about it in public, though!

There are lots of study materials for SCJP; check out our ScjpFaq for more information. Sitting down and studying the actual Java programmer's documentation is neither a common nor recommended route to studying for this exam.

Oh no....Sorry, I think I was too vague.. I didnt mean that I want to take up the test just with the doc.. I have been doing mocks, reading books suggested in this very site, but answering questions like.. "what parameters are present in which method of which class" always make me peep into the doc. So I was sort of .. asking for a way of memorizing such stuff...
Thanks a lot for your patience Ernest..

I doubt that this sort of question comes in SCJP, but still common methods you shuld know if you are doing programming.

I think better place to ask this qustion would be here

SCJP requires a real in depth programming knowledge. You really need to understand the intricacise of the language.

That's why sun came out with a new Java certification, called the SJCA, or Sun Certified Java Associate exam. For this certification, you need a well rounded knowlege of Java technologies, such as JSPs,Servlets, EJB and Web Services, but you don't need a thorough understanding of all the intricaciesof the language - just basic Java syntax.

You might want to start working on the SCJA certification first. It's a nice badge of honour to have, and it demonstrates an adept understanding of the technology.

Good luck!

Just go through some of the mock exam questions. If you don't understand, then just try to remember them. Just study important questions and leave the rest on your luck
