Q: Hi Ranchers,

Where can I get eligible information about the SCJP 5.0 EPractice Labs? I'm looking for some good resources that has a wealthy deal of mock exams.
Anyone please help me. Jothi Shankar Kumar Sankararaj Member # 134889

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How many practice exams are there in the full mode? What stratergy do I have to follow. It is said that the SCJP 5.0 Exam EPractize Labs follows the PPA methodology. How will it boost my confidence? Does the EPractize Labs tries to pay more attention on the topics that I have fared low on the practice exam? Does it explicitly give me more and more practice questions on this? I think that this approach would make one feel better (atleast me). Please let me know. Jothi Shankar Kumar Sankararaj Member # 134889
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: The product allows you to set goals against the exam objectives. For example, say if you want to achieve a goal of 100 percent for Topic A which you want to focus more, then you can set the goal for this topic as 100 and practize to achieve this desired level. This way you can set the goals for all topics and attain more score.

Q: Your quote,

professionals can achieve certification without reading vast materials

Does this mean that the EPractice also has chapters or contents devoted to teaching the basics of syntax like any certification book would do? Jothi Shankar Kumar Sankararaj Member # 134889

Does it run on Mac OS X? Joshua Smith Member # 105281
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: The contents contain the basic syntax but not as vast as the certifaction books.

Q: Does EPractize Labs guarantee SCJP 5.0 Exam pass ? Venkat Sidh Member # 135198
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Yes, we provide 200% Test Pass Guarantee. Please read http://www.epractizelabs.com/money-back-guarantee.html
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Is there an option where we need to just learn and attempt exam for the new features only if one is already SCJP1.4 certified?

And Rajeswari, can youu please tell what drastic change has been made that Sun jumped directly from 1.4 to 5? JP Singh Member # 135854

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: You can take SCJP 5.0 Upgrade Exam.
http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-056.xml

Note that in upgrade exam the topics are same, only number of questions and passing score differ.

1.5 changes includes generic types, metadata, autoboxing, an enhanced for loop, enumerated types, static import, C style formatted input/output, variable arguments, concurrency utilities, and simpler RMI interface generation.

You can find the topic changes between SCJP 1.4 and SCJP 5.0 at http://www.epractizelabs.com/scjp-5-exam-article.html
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: For me, the most important way to learn to write code, is by coding myself. I read that the SCJP 5.0 Exam EPractize Labs includes some examples that you can use to learn to code. I am aware that SCJP focuses on theory, but the most important for all of us is to be able to use this theory in practice.

So what I'd like to know is if Epractize uses some sort of own IDE, where it evaluates your code, or do you simply provide reference solutions for the coding examples? Dylan Honorez Member # 135231
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: There will not be any built in IDE provided in SCJP 5.0 Exam EPractize Labs. Program examples with brief explanations are provided to understand the concepts.

You can find the below thread for complete features of SCJP 5.0 Exam EPractize Labs

https://coderanch.com/t/259819/java-programmer-SCJP/certification/EPractize-WhizLab
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Did Epractize work together with the makers of the SCJP exam in order to develop their software? The SCJP Study Guide book was written by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates, two people that were also involved in putting the SCJP exam together. Does the Epractize software have similar references? Dylan Honorez Member # 135231
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: No, we are independent company.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: I found one drawback from most commercial mock exam is that they don't allow to print questions (or at least no approach). I spent a lot of time on commuting back and forth to office. It would be very nice if I can have paper-based questions when I was in subway.
Does EZPractize provide this feature or any future plan to introduce this feature, e.g. export the exam to a nice looking pdf or doc file. James Quinton Member # 135267
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: No, you cannot print questions from EPractize Labs Exam kits.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: I am SCJP 1.4 certified. Will this simulator help me pass the 1.5 upgrade exam? Sunjeev Shetty Member # 105205
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Yes, our simulator helps you to get through SCJP 5.0.

Note that in upgrade exam the topics are same; only number of questions and passing score differ.

1.5 changes includes generic types, metadata, autoboxing, an enhanced for loop, enumerated types, static import, C style formatted input/output, variable arguments, concurrency utilities, and simpler RMI interface generation.

Q: I am so frustrated at the moment with whizlabs but from what I can see other practice exams suffer from the same problem. Most of the better practice exams I have used include URL's in the problem answer/discussion section. Most exams do not allow either copy or select the url.

I am absolutely tired of needing writing down some long URL, only to have to type the (explicative) URL back in.

If you are going to provide URL's please please I beg of you.
Provide some way for me to either select the url and lauch it to a browser, or copy it. peter cooke Member # 69133
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: The reference URLs provided in EPractize Labs kits launches the browser and opens the page.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: I have dowloaded EPractize Test Lab s/w and took a quiz test in that.Answers are given for each question but, there is explanation about it.It would have been much better if such details are also provided. Raju VGS Member # 74915
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Have you downloaded SCJP 5.0 Exam EPractize Labs?

Please note that EPractize Test Labs is a freeware with limited questions. You can post your content related clarifications our support team.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: legally and technically?
I want to practise both in office and home. James Quinton Member # 135267
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Yes you can install the product on both the systems.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How many practice exams are there in the full mode of EPractice labs? For example, the whizlabs has around 6 practice exams in it's full mode.
I saw the trial version and I went through it and I found them to be comprehensive. Is this also available as a set which comprises SCJP, SCBCD, SCWCD as one package? Jothi Shankar Kumar Sankararaj Member # 134889
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Full Mode comprises of various components / modules with 566 challenging questions with brief explanations. The split-up of each topic vs. EPractize Labs components is given at http://www.epractizelabs.com/scjp-exam-5-prepkit.html#3

Total Mock Exams: 5

SCBCD and SCWCD certification preparation kits are planned for the next release.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Hi Above,

Thanks for the information. the 500+ questions is split up across 5 mock exams and assesment quiz. That sounds quite reasonable. Good that versions for SCBCD and SCWCD are planned as the next releases. I would definitely open my purse for them.

I tried the 25 sample questions. Though they were straightforward and easy, I found the review and links to the JLS at the bottom of the pages to be more informative. But what if I dont have internet connection. Do you have any alternate ways for providing a detailed explanation on the topic within the product?

Jothi Shankar Kumar Sankararaj Member # 134889

Q: Is Drag and drop questions are present in E-practice Labs?. I heard it was introduced in SCJP5.0 Exam. NDP Prasad Member # 122247
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Yes, EPractize Labs provides Drag and Drop questions.

Jothi Shankar Kumar. S, you can get detailed explanation about the exam objectives in Review Tips and Examples & Development Labs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Many times we like to discuss the mock exam or quiz questions on forum like JavaRanch.
But some mock exam softwares (like whizlab) have disabled the text selection.
I know i may sound bit lazy ,but we have to type the whole program code manually and then post it on the forum.
So what type of functionality do EPractize Labs provide. Harshad Khasnis Member # 126328

Yet another querry is that, does the real exam give any options to chosse from. The EPractice lab says, Choose the 2 correct options from the given options. Does the real exam also have the same concept. If not then is there any settings that can be made in the EPractice product so that we can disable the option of asking questions this way. I have come across this in whizlabs where it has the option to disable "Choose the 2 correct options from the given options". Does this applies to EPractice as well. But my main concern is how will that be in the real exam? Jothi Shankar Kumar Sankararaj Member # 134889
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: The below FAQ answer your query
http://faq.javaranch.com/view?ScjpFaq#15diff14

EPractize Labs mock exams mirrors the actual exam question style (no. of choices are given) and customization to enable/disable choice option is planned for the next updates based on customer feedback.

Q: What is the Enterprise Edition? Is it way different from Personal Edition? or does it have the same set of questions like the personal edition? Is the Enterprise Edition more like an LMS? Jothi Shankar Kumar Sankararaj Member # 134889
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: You mentioned in your other post that there are Drag & drop questions in Epractize Labs.
I wanted to know how the behavior of these questions different from actual exam questions.
As I know when in actual exam if you try to review the previous answer of the D&D question then your original answer is gone and you have to start afresh.

So how Epractize labs mock exam provided this feature is it the same as that of real exam or its different. Harshad Khasnis Member # 126328
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: EPractize Labs always maintains the previous answers during review for all kind of question types including Drag & Drop.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: I have one more querry.

Like say if you have new set of questions added into your question bank then can we get these new questions.
And are these updates free or paid?? Harshad Khasnis Member # 126328

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How many questions are there?
Will there be free updates?
How close are the interface to the actual exams?
Will there be a lot of drag and drop questions?

If drag & drop are remembered, then it is not the same like the actual exam though it is better this way.
Wonder when sun will upgrade their exam, like this epractize labs.
Thought sun could do a better job or sub the job out to company like Rajeswari Kannan's. Emily Teng Member # 128064

Q: Hi, Is there a way to brush up on specific topics. Let's say i'm good in Inner classes and not so good in Generics and Collections. Will the SCJP 5.0 Exam EPractize Labs allow me to select this specific topic and be grilled? Krishna Sundar Member # 133654

Q: I have started preparing for SCJP 5.0. through Kathy Sierra study guide.
There is no chance of arising any questions about this awesome Epratize labs. I have the trial version. Rajeshwari lots of thanks for your effort in building this complete study material - Epractize labs. With this revolutionary study guide and a little pratice I am sure to score centum. Q: I am going through the Sierra and Bates SCJP 5 at the moment and I would like to try the the 5.0 Upgrade Exam (CX-310-056). Just wondering if EPractize Labs has (or plan to have) any mock exam tailored for the upgrade certification. I'm a bit worried that no many info about upgrade exams are available...

Any suggestions? Renato Losio Member # 112063
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Please visit the below mentioned link for information about SCJP 5.0 Upgrade Exam.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: many thanks for your reply.

The only concern I really have is that I haven't found a way to simulate the real exam, so basically sit down, try a mock exam and know if my score is reasonable or not before taking the real one. That some that I did on the past for 1.4 and it did help me a lot. Renato Losio Member # 112063

This concerns me as I am also going to take the upgrade exam. The K&B book doesn't cover several of these topics like the simplified RMI interface and metadata. Are these topics on the upgrade exam or not? Dan Doyle Member # 135269
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: I have mentioned the changes in Java 5.0 and not the SCJP 5.0 certification exam topics.

Q: Hi All,

I cleared scjp1.4 last week, and want to upgrade my certification to 1.5.
Can anyone guide on this.I have some queries about this. Do i need to write all exam or only those topics which are newly added? siva prakash Member # 79435

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Hello,
You can refer to this link to get more information SCJP 5.0 in the following link.

http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-056.xml

You have to take all the topics (SCJP 5.0) but the difference is number of questions (42).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What is the difference(syllabus wise) bettween SCJP 1.4 & 1.5.(only new API's of 1.5 added). Which one is best for begineers/freshers? kri shan Member # 70698
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Hi Krishnan,
You can find the difference between the syllabus of Java 1.4 and 1.5 from the link - http://www.epractizelabs.com/scjp-5-exam-article.html

Though SCJP 1.4 is easy, I would prefer that you can take SCJP 5.0 as this is the latest edition and you can also keep yourself technically updated.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: thank you for you reply.
Other things are not important anymore. But I do want to know the license issue.
in order to use the product on two systems, do I have to send you two different installation keys so that I can get two different activation keys?
I found this:
Note: Obtain the license key for the system in which you are going to practice. You cannot apply the same license key to other systems. Therefore think twice about the system in which you are going to practice, before you obtain the license key. Always take the latest installer from our web site prior to activation.
from this link:
http://license.epractizelabs.com/index.htm James Quinton Member # 135267
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Yes, you have to send us two installation keys after you have installed in two different systems.
