So I remember a time when the name police would show up when anybody had a naming violation.

There's been some really colorful names lately. Is the Ranch getting soft?

Do I have a point to this?
Not really.
Its just funny.

I think my cold is getting to me...

In the forums I frequent, I often tell people about the naming policy. I don't think there's been any decline in enforcement, although it strikes me that I would agree, there's been an increase in violations lately. These things tend to run in cycles.

Note that we welcome informants.

Sheriffs and bartenders try to spot the culprits but we can't be everywhere. if you would like to remind people you spot (nicely, of course) we would appreciate it. In fact, that is one way to get noticed for bartender-hood!

What if a person is spotted in one forum and we inform him about naming policy(ofcourse nicely) and he keep on interacting in other forums.
or in some case person is logged in after long time and carry on with his colorful name.

my intent is that if one is not following naming policy which is the best way to notify moderators ???

for an example
this person may login after sometime and carry on with is display name.

As Tom said, if you have an issue with someone's display name, you can private message any bartender, and we'll keep an eye on it. In extreme cases, we can lock someone's account, but it rarely comes to that.

In this case, unless you tell somebody, most of the staff won't have any idea that there's anything wrong with the name -- and frankly, I'm not sure that anything is, even now. If you count every professional athlete on every team in every sport in every nation, I suspect that you won't find many valid display names at all.

Hi Shailesh,

I don't think there's anything wrong with that name. Just because, a person by that name happens to be a famous cricketer, doesn't make that name illegal for some one else to use . Maybe, that's his real name.

I would accept his display name if only once he post a message that his name happens to be a famous cricketer.
If a person write this being ethical and honest,I am more than happy

The only point in my mind is JR Naming Policy,It doesn't appeal to me to answer a person who is even not ready to disclose his identity.

Maybe, that's his real name.

I don't believe, there might be instances where people can display fake names but if rule is there, we should try to follow as much as possible
