SCJP 1.4 -85% vs SCJP 5.0-65%

Hello freinds,
Can anyone suggest me whether just passing SCJP 1.5 and Scoring good marks in SCJP 1.4 will be better from the point of view of job.
I am not able to clear SCJP 1.5 extra concepts.
I am not confident of the same.That's why I am planning to give revert my decision of appearing SCJP 1.5
So,if i clear SCJP 1.4 with good marks,somewhere near 80-85% rather than just passing SCJP 1.5 somewhere near 60-65%
Will it affect my future?
I am Afraid of Drag 'n' Drop Questions.
Because i am having a Whizlabs 1.4 as well as 1.5 simulator I am scoring good marks in practise tests of v1.4 but am failing in v1.5 test.v1.4 is having 11 full length test and v1.5 is having 6 full length test.
What should i do? please suggest me.

Go for the one you are likely to use in your project. From the job perspective most people dont know that SCJP has two versions - 1.4 and 1.5. They just know that there is a java certification called SCJP (there are some that dont even know that). My manager struggles to get the abbreviation right for most of my certifications, let alone their version

Sir,
I am still confused.I am not doing any project right now.I had not yet stepped into the job market.I am still waiting to complete my graduation(B.sc(I.T.)) which am not able to since the last 2 years.Still I am trying to complete it this year.Once I complete it alongwith SCJP please tell me where am I going to stand in the job market.I atleast want to score good marks in the International certifications.So what should I do?
Please reply me from this angle.What is the future scope for me?
So,which version should I choose,v1.4 or v1.5?
If i choose v1.4,i am confident of scoring good marks.but if choose v1.5 i am not confident even of clearing the same.

Pankaj,

As someone in the industry for close to 2 years, I have not seen too many projects that need version 5 of Java. There are a few, but overall the percentage is quite miniscule. The demand might and should pick up in the next few years, but as of now, you should be good with 1.4.

You may take you own time after graduation, clear the new version 5 concepts and go for the upgrade exam.

Once I complete it alongwith SCJP please tell me where am I going to stand in the job market.

With the kind of opportunities there are in the market right now, procuring a job is not going to be any difficult for you and the least of your worries is going to be 1.4 or 5.0. You should know, however, that since you lack a 4-year degree, the nature of jobs offered to you are probably not going to be development ones. They are likely to be application support/testing-oriented. I do hope that you are among the few that do not get into the "support/testing" crap (unless testing is your forte). Good luck to you!
