i studied kathy sierra book version 5.0

is it enough if i study the katy sierra and bert bates book which is a second edition book of version 5.0 . Do i need to study any other book for scjp 1.4 exam...

If you thoroughly study the K&B book you'll pass the exam.

If you want a really high passing score, say in the 90s, you'll have to work harder; do a lot of Mock exams, study other books such as the Mughal text.

Hi aswingua,

If I understand you correctly you are using the 5.0 book to study for the 1.4 exam. If that's correct, then remember the following:

- you'll need to also study bit shifting and the Math class
- there's a lot of stuff in the 5.0 book that isn't on the 1.4 exam.

For what it's worth, I'd recommend that you study for the 5.0 exam instead!

If you know and understand the subject matter - then I would say you should get a good pass.
